The Scotch College Archival Collection spans from the time of establishment of the College in Beaufort Street Mt Lawley in 1897 to the present day. It is dedicated to the collecting and preserving of items relating to the history of Scotch College in Perth. The Collection comprises manuscripts /paper records, maps/plans, photographs, drawings or paintings, movies, audio, textiles. These cover all the aspects of the College throughout its history.

The Sub collections include:

  • Reporters and Clan publications
  • Books specific to the military history of past students
  • Oral histories and music recordings
  • Uniform paraphernalia - caps, boaters, old boys' blazers, Kilts
  • Staff paraphernalia eg. Headmasters' mortar boards
  • Still and moving photographic
  • Achievement awards and sporting trophies
  • Western Australian and local history books

Curiosity can be rewarded in Archives for it is a valuable resource in a broad range of areas. Research can be undertaken locating family identity and local history research. A comprehensive History of Scotch College Building a Tradition was published in 1996 and is available for purchase from the School at a cost of $50, including GST. Copies can be purchased directly from the Old Scotch Collegians office, located at 78 Shenton Road, Swanbourne.

Guidelines:

The Scotch Archival Collection is a reference collection. You are welcome to read and examine items of interest but they cannot be borrowed. Many items have been donated and are rare and irreplaceable. When given access to these items, you may be asked to use extreme care and wear cotton or surgical gloves. A display/ reading area is available where pencils only are to be used.

Conservation is ongoing and volunteers are sought for a variety of projects.
