The Cadet unit is known as Scotch College Emergency Services Cadet Unit. This is linked to the State Government Cadets Scheme controlled from the Office of Children and Young Peoples Policy and FESA and provides a number of new opportunities for students. Boys join Cadets in Year 10 and may apply for positions in Year 11 and 12 as Senior Cadets. They are then responsible for the running of the unit under the direction and guidance of the Unit Officers. Cadet activities are designed to allow students to remove themselves from their 'comfort zone' and try different and exciting activities. All training is conducted by staff with many years of experience with the emphasis of all training being safety, based on the authorised cadet training manuals.
