The Association was founded in 1970 and has the following objectives:
-
To encourage close liaison and good understanding between parents of boys.
-
To foster and promote the welfare and progress of Scotch College and to cooperate with the Headmaster or his appointee to this end.
-
To cooperate, through the Headmaster or his appointee, with any other body or organisation deemed to be promoting the welfare of Scotch College.
Membership is open to parents who have, or have had, a boy at Scotch. For those who wish to, the quarterly subscription of $22.00 (inc. GST) may be paid with the school fees each term. Parents who take part in this scheme are eligible to take part in a quarterly draw, whereby the Parents' Association will pay one parent's fees for the term.
The Association organises two main functions each year - a Family Barbecue and a Sundowner. Details of these are sent home with boys prior to each occasion. The Association holds functions for each year group so that parents can get to know others who have boys in that year group. In 2008 the Association will hold a function for Boarder parents for the first time.
In recent years the Parents' Association has funded:
-
The high ropes course at Moray
-
The new kitchen at Moray
-
The Junior School air conditioning
The AGM for the Parents' Association is held early in February. Monthly committee meetings are held on Tuesday evenings. Junior and Senior School parents are invited to volunteer to serve on this vibrant, active committee. Correspondence to the Association may be addressed to the School.
