Friday 12 February saw a small gathering at the Scotch Rowing Shed for the naming of two boats, the Jeremy Stevenson and David Dennis.
Jeremy Stevenson '03 rowed in our 1st VIII in 2002 and 2003, and from that point went on to represent Australia at the Olympic Games in Bejing 2008. He also competed at the World Championships from 2005 to 2007. Jeremy also represented Western Australia in the Kings Cup 6 times (2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2015). He holds the distinction of being one of only four old boys who have won the Kings Cup (2005).
Jeremy coached for the Boat Club whilst studying engineering at UWA. His career as a software telecoms engineer has prevented him from any recent coaching involvement in the Boat Club. He has however been a regular in the old boys VIII - to devastating effect! Jeremy has maintained a keen interest in the Boat Club, and has always been available as a technical advisor to our coaches.
David Dennis '97 rowed in our 1st VIII in 1997, and from that point went on to represent Australia at two Olympic Games (2004 & 2008) and two World Championships 2001 & 2003 and as an Under 23 - Nations Cup. David also represented Western Australia in the Kings Cup 7 times (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008 and 2011).
David's career as an engineer has prevented him from any direct involvement in the Boat Club apart from an occasional appearance in the old boys VIII. He is presently working overseas in the Solomon Islands as an engineer. David has nevertheless maintained a keen interest in the School and the Boat Club.
