OSC News: Tyler Hill

Tyler Hill (OSC 2012) is being lauded as an exciting new talent in the world of set and costume design in Western Australia as he makes his Black Swan Theatre Company debut with the production of Samuel Beckett's 'Endgame'. As the recent recipient of the 2016 David Hough Award for Outstanding Achievement in Design for his cohort at WAAPA and receiving the Design Institute of Australia (DIA) Commendation for his set design for Much Ado About Nothing, Tyler Hill is certainly one watch. In addition to landing the coveted role as designer for 'Endgame', Tyler worked as the model maker on PIAF's 2017 Opening Ceremony and Design Assistant on Spare Parts Theatre Company's major creative development.

Prior to graduating the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts with a Bachelor of Performing Arts specialising in Set and Costume Design, Tyler studied WACE Drama at Scotch College and played an active role in school productions. He recently returned to Scotch as the Designer for 'The Island of Doctor Moreau' and 'The Addams Family Musical' where his awe-inspiring set design captivated student performers and audiences alike.

This Saturday 6th May, Tyler will be offering a preview of his work for two upcoming shows 'Endgame' and The Eisteddfod' at the Black Swan State Theatre Open Day, delivering a design presentation 'From Page to Stage.' See the Black Swan Theatre Company website for more details. Be sure to also catch his design vision brought to life in the production of 'Endgame' which opens 27th May at the State Theatre Centre.
