Teaching and Learning

Scotch College is a modern, progressive and successful independent school for boys.

The School embraces a global view of teaching and learning and educates students for life beyond the College.

For over 120 years the School has been providing an intellectually and personally challenging programme in keeping with the best traditions of a contemporary education.

We aim to equip students with the knowledge, confidence, skills and maturity to make the most of their abilities. It is crucial that students are adaptable in today's ever-changing environment. So we strive to ensure they become:

  • independent life-long learners

  • creative and critical thinkers

  • problem solvers

  • cooperative and collaborative workers

  • skilled researchers

  • global communicators

Scotch College also offers students the opportunity to study the International Baccalaureate. The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a broad based curriculum with exciting 21st Century relevance. Scotch College is proud to offer all three programmes; the Primary Years Programme in the Junior School for Years K to 5, the Middle Years Programme in the Middle School for Years 6 to 8 and the Diploma Programme which is an alternative programme to the Western Australian Certificate of Education Programme for Years 11 to 12. The International Baccalaureate has an international reputation for offering the highest quality education, promoting an international mindedness and a positive approach to classroom learning.
