Academic Support Team

The Academic Support Team caters for the individual needs of boys through a comprehensive support programme.

The Residence is a hub of learning with activities centred around support programmes for all boys in the form of:

  • peer tutoring

  • staff tutoring

  • study groups

  • co-educational extension groups

  • workshops facilitated by ex-students

Issues concerning your son

Parents are encouraged to contact House Heads about the possible need for assistance.

When necessary, external tutors can be recommended for students who require further specialist attention.

Learning Difficulties

The Academic Support team identifies boys with special learning needs and differentiates programmes through case management, communicating each boy's progress as part of the working relationship with parents.

Boys are ensured of equity in learning environments, including special provisions such as extra time in assessments. The Academic Support Team liaises with the Curriculum Council in Year 12 to ensure that this provision extends to the external Tertiary Entrance Examinations.

Extension Programmes

The Middle Years programme of the IBO insists on a level of rigour and higher order thinking which ensures gifted and talented students are challenged. Boys who are identified as gifted and talented are encouraged to realise their potential and share in a negotiated curriculum to explore the moral and ethical dimensions of their belief and society's beliefs.
