  1. Once we have received your registration form, you will receive written confirmation from our Admissions team.
  2. If a place is available, we will make you a formal offer in writing.
  3. Offers are made up to three years in advance, prior to your chosen intake year (for example in Kindergarten, Pre-Primary, Year 6 or Year 7). We are also very happy to make an immediate offer if you are enrolling in the current term.
  4. You are now able to accept, defer or decline the offer.
  5. If accepting, you will need to complete the provided enrolment documentation and return it to our Admissions team, along with the Confirmation Fee.

Boarding at Scotch

We welcome students into our boarding community from Year 7–12. Boarding is a great option for international, rural and regional families or metropolitan students looking to have an immersive experience in life at Scotch College.

The highlight of our boarding programme is the 1,000km Bibbulmun Track. Undertaken in stages by boarders from Year 7–12, the Track provides an iconic experience that our students cite as the most memorable of their time at the College.

Frequently asked questions

What are the most common intake years?

Years 4 and 7 are our most common intake years for day students and Year 7 is the most common intake year for boarders. However, students are able to start in any year group and at any point in the school year, where places are available.

Are places available now?

Please get in touch with our Admissions team on +61 8 9383 6946 or admissions@scotch.wa.edu.au for the latest information on places in your preferred school year.

How does the waiting list work?

All registered students are automatically added to our waiting list. The waiting list includes all registered students and the year they intend to begin at the College.

As your preferred school start date approaches, our Admissions team will get in touch to confirm your interest in a place at Scotch. To confirm your place, you are required to pay a confirmation fee and submit the provided enrolment documents.

If you opt to select a later start date, our team will contact you again at that point in time.

What happens if I decline an offer?

If you decline your offer, we will keep your child on our waiting list for the following intake year while retaining their original application date.

What happens if I accept an offer, pay my confirmation fee and then change my mind?

Your child will return to our waiting list for the next intake year, retaining their original application date. Please keep in mind that all places are dependent on the number of students entering each year and unfortunately we are not able to guarantee a place, should you defer your offer.

Do you offer scholarships?

We offer scholarships to academically and musically talented students and support them to pursue excellence in their chosen fields. We also offer Boarding Scholarships and scholarships for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, with support from MADALAH.

Scholarships are available for students starting Year 7 and are open to current and prospective students.

Learn more about our scholarship opportunities.

What languages are on offer?

Our language programme includes French, Indonesian and Spanish.

French is taught as part of the Primary Years programme (Pre-Kindergarten to Year 5) and is an integral part of our students' education.

In Years 6 to 12, students can choose from French or Indonesian. Our International Baccalaureate Diploma students can also study Spanish in Years 11 and 12.

What sports do you offer?

Sport is a big part of life at Scotch. It encourages teamwork and teaches our students to support each other. At the start of each season, students select a sport and specialist staff provide coaching.

In Summer Term, our students can choose from Basketball, Cricket, Rowing, Sailing, Swimming, Tennis, Volleyball or Water Polo. In Winter Term, we offer Athletics, Badminton, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Hockey, Rugby, Soccer or Surfing.

Our campus houses impressive sporting facilities, including 10 hectares of playing fields that back onto Lake Claremont, an Olympic-length heated swimming pool and gymnasium.

What music and arts opportunities are available?

We believe in a breadth of education at Scotch and the Arts are an important part of this. All our students are encouraged to participate in music and performance groups, including choirs and orchestras.

Our many musical groups perform publicly throughout the year at Scotch venues and more widely around Perth and across the state. Our Pipe Band is a particular favourite and has performed across Australia and internationally.

Scotch produces annual Drama productions across Junior, Middle and Senior School, which are a highlight for our entire community. In Senior School, we alternate between a play one year and a musical the next.
