Boarding Week 2021

14–20 June, 2021

From 14–20 Jun, Scotch College will be recognising and spotlighting our boarding students, families and staff.

A key event during the week is Ag Day, held on Thursday 17 June. Each year, a new theme is chosen to reflect our boarding community. This year's theme is 'farming'.

In celebration of regional Western Australia, students are encouraged to wear free dress and bring a gold coin donation. Lamb and gravy rolls, made by the Boarders Council, are available to buy during lunch.

All funds raised on Ag Day will be halved and donated to Royal Flying Doctors Service and Lord Mayor's Distress Relief Fund for those affected by Tropical Cyclone Seroja.

Our boarders hail from many regions and backgrounds; not simply cropping and livestock farmers.

Maxx Della Franca is an Avocado farmer from Pemberton, James Holtham is a banana and grape grower from Carnarvon, Dean Brown's family farm pearls at Cygnet Bay near Broome, Ollie Miller's family farms grain and Digby Smith's family owns and operates a vineyard in Frankland River.

Not all boarders are involved in agriculture, so this week represents the stories of all boarders at Scotch.

Winners of our Boarding Photo Competition between 2008–2020 will be on display on digital screens throughout the school during Boarding Week. From Broome to Esperance; the incredible photos highlight the vast array of backgrounds, homes and experiences within our boarding community.

Our boarders have created and displayed posters about the agriculture industry to give the Scotch community a greater insight into what our families do. We think it'll celebrate the diversity of our boarding house and encourage others to travel regionally and experience country.

Year 12 student George Purser has created a video which portrays our boarding community, comprised of footage from our boarders across the state.
