Our approach ensures each boy is provided with the support and opportunity needed to thrive.
History of Scotch
Scotch College was founded as a Presbyterian school for boys in 1897 by Mrs Jane Alexander with a £500 donation. This led to the College’s official opening on Beaufort Street with 28 pupils. In 1905, through the generosity of Mr J M Ferguson, the College moved to what is the present Collegians’ House in Swanbourne catering for 140 boys.
Today, Scotch provides educational opportunities for boys from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 from diverse backgrounds and geographical locations. We maintain our historical Scottish roots with our Tartan ties for each school House and an internationally recognised Pipe Band which all contribute to a unique sense of history and community at the school.
The Scotch College Archive houses our historical records and aims to preserve the history and traditions of Scotch College. The Collection dates back to our foundation in 1897 and spans to current day.
We are delighted to accept donations of material that add to the richness of our Collection, such as diaries, correspondence and photographs. Please note, due to storage limitations, we are not able to accept all donations and donations are considered on a case-by-case basis.
