Like all independent schools, we meet our day-to-day expenses through a combination of school fees and government support. We are grateful for the sacrifices made by our families and the funding we receive, and we use these resources carefully.
To grow and thrive, we rely on the generosity of the Scotch community. Your support helps us provide scholarships, support students, and create inspiring spaces for teaching and learning, now and into the future.
Donations to the Scotch College Scholarship and Bursary Fund are tax deductible.
Scotch offers many opportunities that I would not have been able to undertake if not for this scholarship … this scholarship has given me the gift of learning
— Zachary Rumball (Year 10)
Built on a history of giving
The tradition of giving at Scotch College began with our founding in 1897 and continues to this day.
The College owes its beginnings to a generous gift from the Alexander family. Jane and the Hon. William Alexander, in search of a Presbyterian school for boys in Perth, donated £500 to help establish the College. Without this founding gift, Scotch would not exist.
Since then, we’ve been deeply grateful for the support of parents, alumni, staff, and friends. Their generosity has helped shape Scotch into the world-class College it is today.
Every gift, large or small, helps our College grow, support students, and continue to thrive for generations to come. Your contribution truly makes a difference.
When you give through Scotch, you’re not just contributing to an education. You’re investing in a boy’s life journey.
— Dr Alec O’Connell (Headmaster 2011 – present)
Ways of Giving
Support our scholarships

Scholarship and Bursary Fund
Each year, Scotch College awards a number of Academic, Music, Boarding, and Indigenous Scholarships and Bursaries. Like every Scotch College student, recipients are welcomed into our ‘community for life’ and receive the many benefits of the Scotch College culture, faith and education of which we are so proud.
Each donation from the Scotch community helps us offer the gift of a Scotch College education to students to whom it may not otherwise be available.

Make a capital investment
The John Maxwell Ferguson Fund honours the man whose vision and generosity made a lasting impact on Scotch College. In 1904, John Maxwell Ferguson funded the relocation of the College from Beaufort Street to Swanbourne, laying the foundations for our future.
The Fund aims to build a strong capital base by drawing on the collective support of our community. Over time, this base will generate returns to help fund Scotch College’s next century of growth.
To help establish the Fund, several community members generously contributed $50,000 loans over five years. We are now inviting new supporters to join by offering an interest-free loan of at least $25,000 for a minimum of three years.
The Fund is overseen by Directors Ben Bartholomaeus, Tim Lyons, Paul Carter, Simon Jackson, and Paul Davidson.

Leave a bequest
The Alexander Society recognises those who have chosen to support the future of Scotch College through a gift in their will.
Named in honour of William and Jane Alexander, whose £500 donation in 1896 made the founding of the College possible, the Society continues a proud tradition of giving that has shaped Scotch for more than a century.
This generosity has created lasting opportunities. In 1968, W A Gardner left a bequest of $68,000 to support the sons and grandsons of Old Boys. Today, that fund has grown to over $1 million and continues to change lives.
Leaving a bequest is a meaningful way to make a lasting contribution to the life of Scotch College.
