At Scotch, our rich Co-Curricular programme is part of the all-encompassing education we offer. It provides a breadth of opportunities that lead to personal growth and development for your son.
He will have the chance to connect and collaborate beyond his peer group. With great avenues for him to discover new passions, build and develop skills in these areas, and learn through action and reflection.
Promoting learning and skills beyond the classroom curricula, our co-curricular programme is offered to all students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12.
Arts at Scotch
The Arts at Scotch are vibrant and inclusive, offering students from Junior through to Senior School a wide range of creative activities. Many opportunities exist within the areas of drama, music, and the creative arts, with several collaborative projects held in partnership with our sister school, Presbyterian Ladies’ College. These experiences foster both creative expression and co-educational connection.
Pipe Band
Established in 1947, the Pipe Band forms an integral part of Scotch’s Scottish heritage and traditions. Scotch College currently has three bands – the A Team, the Full Pipe Band and the Middle School Pipe Band which forms part of a Development Pipe Band.
The Scotch College Pipe Band has played at many local and international events – from the world-renowned Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo to international tours and professional sporting events.

Service
Service is an essential part of life at Scotch, and as one of the leading Christian colleges in Perth, we strongly believe that fostering a supportive and collaborative community builds fulfilled citizens who are engaged in the world around them.
From Kindergarten to Year 12, boys have access to service activities framed around the Scotch Service Model cornerstones: Nurture, Inspire, Sustain, and Connect.
All students have the opportunity to partake in Service initiatives, the student leaders often organising fundraisers for both local and global causes such as FightMND, the Leukemia Foundation and Surf Life Saving to name a few.

Sport
Sport is a vital part of school life at Scotch and all students participate throughout the year. Our College’s ethos is to provide an opportunity for every boy to participate in sport, no matter their skill level. Scotch College is part of the Public Schools Association (PSA) and participates in Inter-School sporting events with boys from six other independent schools across Perth.
In addition to the classroom based Physical Education programme, representing the College in a seasonal chosen sport is compulsory for all boys from Years 3 to 6 (JPSSA) and Years 7 to 12 (PSA).
We acknowledge the need for every boy to participate in sport and place a strong emphasis on participation as well as performing to individual potential; participation is crucial to a student’s development.
Tours, camps and exchanges
At Scotch, we are a local school with a global outlook. Your son is invited to travel interstate and abroad to learn more about the world around them.
To add to our breadth of opportunity, the College runs a variety of tours and camps locally, interstate, and abroad. Some opportunities include sporting tours, arts, and culture immersions as well as performance tours.
Round Square exchange programme
Scotch College is a Global Member of the Round Square network of over 180 schools around the world that share a commitment, beyond academic excellence, to personal development and responsibility, service, challenge, adventure, and international understanding.
In Year 8, students are offered the opportunity to undertake a domestic exchange, and in Year 10 to participate in a 5–10 week exchange programme at another Round Square school across the globe.

Clubs
At Scotch, there are a variety of clubs across our sub-schools for your son to engage with. These allow students to meet peers with similar interests. These clubs may be focused on hobbies, subject areas, or the development of skills and talents.
Clubs offerings change each year, with examples of previous clubs including Lego, Chess, STEM Club, Run Club, and Nature Club.
Public speaking
Scotch College offers a range of public speaking and critical thinking opportunities that build confidence, clarity, and persuasive communication from Junior School through to Senior School. Some of our opportunities involve areas such as debating, philosophy, and ethical discussions.

Outdoor education
Our Outdoor Education programme starts in Year 3 and continues through to Year 12. These experiences provide students the chance to learn skills that can’t be taught in the classroom and are interwoven with our pastoral care initiatives.
Scotch College has its own Outdoor Education Centre, Moray, a 66-hectare property on the banks of the Murray River, three kilometres south of Dwellingup on Wilman country.
The Outdoor Education programme also extends beyond Moray, with opportunities to participate in programmes both local and internationally, including through the Duke of Edinburgh program.
Duke of Edinburgh
Scotch College is very proud to offer The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award to our students. The Award is an internationally recognised programme that acknowledges the diverse activities and skills to which participants are committed.
The Duke of Edinburgh framework encourages students to step beyond the classroom, with key components including service, physical recreation, skill development and personal challenge – many of which are already embedded in daily life at Scotch.
Most of all, the Award is designed to be fun and fulfilling. During their time achieving the Award, a student will develop new skills and interests, meet new friends while strengthening current friendships and be rewarded for their efforts.
