International Baccalaureate

The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a broad based curriculum with exciting 21st Century relevance.

The IB Programme has an international reputation for offering the highest quality education, promoting an international mindedness and a positive approach to classroom learning.

The student is taught to move beyond the given norms, to confront boundaries and undertake challenges that will push their learning to new heights. With the international context of the IB Programmes, your child will be immersed in active learning equipping them to step beyond the classroom.

Through the authorisation and evaluation process the School's programme and teaching methodologies are audited against internationally established benchmarks.

Scotch College and the IB

Scotch College provides three IB Programmes, covering all age groups:

The Primary Years Programme (PYP) - The PYP is for pupils aged 5 to 12 and focuses on the development of the whole child in the classroom and in the outside world.

The Middle Years Programme (MYP) - The MYP for pupils aged 11 to 14 provides a framework of academic challenge and life skills, achieved through embracing and transcending traditional school subjects.

The Diploma Programme - The Diploma is for students aged 16 to 19. It is a demanding two-year curriculum leading to final examinations and a qualification that is welcomed by leading universities around the world.

The IB does not own or administer any of the schools that employ its world renowned education programmes. Scotch College will work in partnership with the IB to share in the commitment to providing your child with the highest level of international education.

With a global focus the IB Programmes push the student's thoughts towards inquiry based learning.

Recognition

The IB Programme is recognised by all major Tertiary Institutions in Australia. It is on the back of this renowned reputation for education excellence that over 2,700 Schools, in over 130 countries worldwide utilise the IB learning platform.
