Inquiry based learning springs into action in the Junior School

Scotch Year 3 students finished Term 3 with a bang as they held several fundraisers as part of their Unit of Inquiry.

The initiatives, all chosen by the boys, were successfully rolled out across the final weeks of term. These included:

DRE Ethiopia

Sam Cimbaro and Ben Bloch collected old footy boots and sports clothes and equipment to be donated to children in Ethiopia. Sara Franklyn came to talk to the boys about how  sponsorship initiatives and funding can facilitate good schooling and how provision of resources can help families to gain an education and be able to learn a trade that can support them.

Four other boys, Brodie Gillett, Zachary McManus, Sebastian Fugill and James Ackerman, designed a Treasure Hunt at lunchtime, raising over $200 for DRE Ethiopia.

Make a Wish Foundation

Robert Mackay, Lachlan Gillett, Fareeq Nor Arman, Camron McLeay and Xavier Lewis held a bake sale at recess, selling gigantic cookies and homemade lemonade. The boys raised $560 for dying children to help their wishes come true.

Stationery for India

Emerson McNally collected stationery items which our Year 11 and 12 Service and Citizenship tour will take out to India, donating the goods to schools and orphanages so that they can provide them with better resources in school.

There are many more exciting initiatives in the pipeline for next term including 3-2-1 bags for the homeless - watch this space!
